-Interview-

In order to gain a better understanding of the art therapy/psychotherapy process, the current use of Ai in art therapy, and the development of the professionals’ views on the future use of Ai in art therapy, I contacted three psychotherapists who are currently working at a leading psychological organisation in Beijing, China. (Due to company regulations, they were not allowed to mention the exact names of the companies in the interviews)

The interviews were organised as follows:

1.Jianyun wu——27/02/2024 14:00-15:00

2.Ella —— 28/ 02/2024 14:00-15:00

3.Yulin Dong —— Time TBC

Interview questionnaire (questions will be adapted to the professional background and experience of different therapists)

  1. interviewee profile (licence, background, therapy experience, etc.)
  2. what do you think is the difference between art therapy and psychotherapy?
  3. have you had any experience with AI?
  4. how far has the integration of Ai with art therapy/psychotherapy progressed so far?

5.Do you think it is realistic/safe to use AI in psychotherapy?

  1. if AI is to be applied in psychotherapy, are there boundaries that need to be observed, especially in terms of ethical guidelines? (Ethical and privacy issues. This includes how personal health information is handled, ensuring data security and privacy)
  2. what role do you think AI will play if ai is introduced into psychotherapy/art therapy? (e.g. assisting in the diagnosis, treatment and tracking of mental health conditions – recognising emotions or natural language processing etc)
  3. with the development of AI today, do you see “psychotherapist” as one of the professions that could be replaced by AI?
  4. what do you speculate AI will evolve into in psychotherapy in the next 5-10 years?

-Workspace

According to the division of labour at a previous group meeting, I was responsible for contacting the London Art Therapy Centre, I made 8 phone calls from Thursday to Sunday to book a Group Therapy appointment as well as a visit workplace, and each time they said they would either call me back or email me to confirm the appointment but strangely enough none of them followed up on it, but it’s not unusual to be met with a rejected or they are slow to process the work is not uncommon.

So I sent them an email with a brief and clear description of our group and the directions and areas we intend to research, and got the following reply:

I think I’m going to keep trying to get a meeting with her to chat in more detail about her views on the use of Ai in art therapy.

In the meantime keep looking for other Ai workplaces or Art therapy workplaces that we can visit.
